PowerToolGrid

Cordless yard tools, compared by battery platform

Choose the battery before you buy the first tool.

Your first cordless mower, trimmer or blower picks your battery, and the battery picks every tool after it: packs fit their own platform and almost nothing else. Each brand's site shows only its own range and stores split them across aisles. PowerToolGrid puts 28 platforms from 16 brands side by side: the packs, the tools that run on them, and the sourced exceptions.

How it works

  1. 1

    See every platform

One table: each platform's packs and how many mowers, trimmers and blowers run on them, with the widest mower and strongest blower.

  2. 2

    Put two head to head

EGO against Ryobi, DeWalt against Milwaukee: the two lineups tool by tool, and whether the batteries swap.

  3. 3

    Check the tool

Open any product for its specs, where each figure came from, and the packs that run it.

Why side by side

Once you own two or three packs, switching brands means buying them again, so the time to compare is before the first tool. A platform with a great mower may have no hedge trimmer or chainsaw at all, and "every battery fits every tool" has exceptions: Ryobi's 6.0Ah 40V pack doesn't fit some of its mowers.

Or start from the batteries you own

Already have packs? Each platform has its own page with every tool listed for it, grouped by kind. One brand can run several platforms that don't share batteries: Greenworks 24V, 40V, 60V and 80V packs each fit only their own tools, so they're listed separately.

How complete is this?

The catalog is honest about its gaps rather than filling them in with guesses. Every product page shows where its numbers came from.

  • 65% confirmed: part number and every spec read from a brand or store page (317 partly inferred, 0 with a value not yet re-checked)
  • 38% have a price recorded
