Battery platforms side by side
The first cordless tool you buy picks your battery, and the battery picks every tool after it: packs only fit their own platform, with a few exceptions noted on each platform's page. Here are 28 platforms from 16 brands, each as one row: its packs and the garden tools that run on them. Tap a column to sort, or tick two or more platforms to see just those; on a phone, swipe the table sideways.

Counts are the tools in this catalogue so far, not each brand's whole range: the bigger platforms make more than are listed yet. A dash means none listed or no figure published. Tool warranties are the longest any listed tool states; batteries often carry a different one. Every figure links to its product page and its source. How we compare.

Do any batteries work across platforms?
Rarely, and only one way. DeWalt FLEXVOLT packs run DeWalt 20V MAX tools, but 20V MAX packs don't fit FLEXVOLT tools. Ryobi's 42 in and 54 in 80V zero-turns also take Ryobi 40V packs. Between brands, we have no source for any pair. Every cross-platform battery fit, with sources →
