Batteries across platforms

A cordless yard-tool battery fits its own platform's tools and, almost always, nothing else. These are the exceptions we can source, each with the direction it works in. A fit we can't source isn't listed, and third-party adapters aren't covered yet.

Platforms that share batteries

PlatformsHowConfidenceWhat the source says, and which way it works
DeWalt 20V MAX and DeWalt 60V MAX FLEXVOLT pack fits directly reported “these cordless outdoor products are compatible with both 20V MAX and FLEXVOLT batteries” homedepot.com ↗One way only: FLEXVOLT packs run 20V MAX tools; 20V MAX packs do not fit 60V MAX tools (Acme Tools: 20V batteries physically won't fit 60V and 120V tools, https://www.acmetools.com/tool-crib/ac605938/dewalt-battery-compatability/). DeWalt's own FLEXVOLT page describes a runtime boost for 20V MAX tools. Read via search; re-read pages directly.
Ryobi 40V and Ryobi 80V HP pack fits directly reported “4 brushless motors, (2) 80V 10Ah batteries, and (2) 40V 12Ah batteries” espanol.ryobitools.com ↗One way and model-specific: the 42 in (RYRM8021) and 54 in (RYRM8034) 80V HP zero-turns also run on 40V packs; the 30 in (RYRM8010) takes 80V packs only. 80V packs do not run 40V tools (no source says they do). Brand statement read from a search result, so 'reported' until the page is read directly.

Platforms whose packs fit only their own tools

We have found no source saying any other platform's battery runs these tools. Pick one and every tool after it runs on that brand's packs.

Within one platform: packs that don't fit every tool

Most brands say every pack fits every tool on the platform. These sources say otherwise for a particular tool.

"Confirmed" means the brand's own page says it, read directly; "reported" means a source says it but we have only seen it through a search result or a store's page; "inferred" means the evidence points to it without anyone stating it. How we handle battery-fit claims.
